Software Design is nothing without its people, so we’d like to introduce you to some of the friendly faces who shape our team.
In this installment, we meet dog lover and drone hobbyist Christian Byrne, our Account Manager.
How did you find your way to Software Design?
I had previously spent almost 12 years working in sales and account management in the travel industry. However, for several years before I joined Software Design, I had been working in TV/Film. There is an element of ‘famine or feast’ in this industry so when I got a call from my old friend Paul asking if I could assist the QA department for a week, I agreed. Three years later, I’m still here. But my role has evolved.
Tell us a bit about your role and how you contribute to the company?
As Account Manager, I deal with our clients on a day to day basis and I’m their initial point of contact for any queries or issues they’re experiencing. I also manage the support team and ensure that all support requests are dealt with as efficiently as possible. In addition to this, I’m responsible for general office administration and last but not least, I’m the fire warden for the office!
What do you like most about working for Software Design?
I love the people that I get to work with on a daily basis. They’re a fun and diverse bunch of people from around the world! Work life is never boring in Software Design!
What excites you most about the tech industry in general?
While not very technical myself, I’m definitely a gadget man. I love my gadgets – be it a smart watch, a racing drone or a Google Home and I’m constantly in awe of how much technology has changed since I was a kid and how much it’s changing on a daily basis!
How do you unwind after work?
I’m a freestyle drone pilot and I like nothing better than to get out into the countryside for some acrobatic drone flying. I have also recently adopted a dog so I love going walking on the beach or up the mountains with her.
What animal do you most identify with?
I identify most with my dog. When we go for walks together I try to see the world through her eyes – to take in the different smells, sounds and sights and to appreciate how wonderful and diverse the world around us is!
